Just before Jesus ascended to the Father, He gave His followers a calling and a strategy. They would be His witnesses everywhere they went: starting at home, expanding outward, and reaching all the way to the ends of the earth.
That same calling is ours today. At Hillcrest, we believe every follower of Jesus is sent and we want to live that out together as a church family. Whether it's a neighbor down the road or a people group across the world, we want to take the good news of Jesus from the end of our street to the ends of the earth.
That mission shapes how we engage on three fronts: here in Morristown, across North America, and around the world.
We engage our community in two ways: through major outreach events that open the doors of our church to our neighbors, and through equipping every member to live as an ambassador of Christ in their own neighborhood.
Throughout the year, Hillcrest hosts several signature events that bring our community onto our campus and give our church family a chance to share the love of Jesus.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) | Each summer, we welcome dozens of kids from across our community for a week of Bible teaching, music, games, and gospel proclamation. VBS is one of the most fruitful weeks on our calendar — and one of the most important ways we share Jesus with the next generation.
Trunk or Treat | Every fall, our parking lot fills up for one of the biggest family nights of the year. Decorated trunks, candy, games, and hundreds of neighbors — it's a chance to throw open our doors and meet the people God has placed around us.
Living Christmas Tree | Our annual Living Christmas Tree is a Hillcrest tradition that draws families from across East Tennessee. Through music, Scripture, and the message of Christmas, we proclaim the good news that Jesus has come.
Mission Morristown | A day of hands-on service across our community, alongside other local churches.

We believe missions don't just happen at events, but rather it happens at the end of every member's street. Every Hillcrest member lives in a neighborhood, works in a workplace, and crosses paths with people who need Jesus. Our calling is to equip our church family to live as ambassadors right where God has placed them through prayer, intentional relationships, hospitality, and clear gospel conversations.
One simple tool we recommend for sharing the gospel is 3 Circles, a clear, visual way to walk a friend, neighbor, or family member through the good news of Jesus on a napkin or piece of paper.
Two simple tools we recommend to help you get started:
Bless Every Home | A free tool that gives you the names of your closest neighbors so you can begin praying for them by name and looking for ways to care, share, and invite. Start with your own street.

Beyond Morristown, the gospel still has ground to cover. Across the United States and Canada, churches are being planted and missionaries are reaching communities that have little access to the good news. Hillcrest partners in this work through the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, North American Mission Board (NAMB), and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
The TBMB serves and equips Tennessee Baptist churches in their mission of advancing the gospel across our state — supporting church planting, leadership development, evangelism training, disaster relief, and ministry to college students, families, and pastors. As a member of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, Hillcrest joins more than 3,000 churches across the state in this shared work. How we partner: Cooperative giving, prayer, and ongoing fellowship through the Tennessee Baptist Convention.
NAMB exists to plant new churches and reach people across the United States and Canada with the gospel. Through NAMB, Southern Baptists support thousands of missionaries and church planters serving in some of the most spiritually under-reached cities and communities in North America.
Each spring, our church family gives to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, which directly funds NAMB's missionaries on the field. 100% of every dollar given to Annie Armstrong goes to missionaries, none to administration. How we partner: Annual giving through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, ongoing support through the Cooperative Program, and prayer.
The gospel is for every nation, tribe, and tongue and Jesus has sent His church to make disciples of them all. Hillcrest engages in international missions through partnership with specific missionary families and through generous giving to the International Mission Board (IMB).
We're privileged to walk alongside the following missionaries through prayer, financial support, and encouragement:
Amanda Gibson | Rwanda, East Africa
Danielle Schneider | Cape Town, South Africa
Hearts for Christ | A Tennessee-based ministry serving children in Belize and locally — providing school sponsorships, uniforms, supplies, tuition, and the love of Christ to over 500 children each year.
Each December, our church family gives to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. 100% of every gift supports IMB missionaries serving on the field around the world.

Beyond specific offerings and partnerships, Hillcrest gives faithfully through the Cooperative Program: the unified channel that supports the work of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist Convention, and missionaries across North America and around the world. When you give to Hillcrest, a portion of every dollar goes directly to the advance of the gospel through the Cooperative Program.

One of the most formative things a believer can do is serve alongside others on mission. Hillcrest is currently developing short-term mission trip opportunities both domestic and international for our church family. If you'd like to be part of a future trip, we'd love to hear from you.
Pray. Missions begin on our knees. Pray for our missionaries, our community, and the nations.
Give. Every gift to Hillcrest helps fuel the work of the gospel locally and globally. You can also designate gifts to specific offerings: Annie Armstrong, Lottie Moon, or our local missions fund.
Go. Maybe God is calling you to serve in Mission Morristown, join a future mission trip, or step into long-term ministry. Whatever the next step looks like, we'd love to walk with you.
